How to get there
La Paillasse,
Fabas 31230,
Haute-Garonne,
Midi-Pyrénées,
France
Driving:
By road, the journey is around the 12 hour mark from the north coast,
allowing for fuel and food stops. The autoroutes are a must, unless you
wish to build a leisurely drive down into the holiday. We’ve done the
journey in one hit each time, as the roads are so good with excellent service stations; it’s really not that painful providing kids are kept entertained (CD storybooks or DVD players do the trick). The tolls will cost around 43 Euros
in all. Fuel is around 140 Euros for a large family car.
If you are using SatNav, the town and postcode for the area is
Fabas 31230.
You have two realistic choices for your route down. We have recently been relying on a SatNav which has taken us directly through Paris, out on the A10 and south on the A20. Paris can always be a gamble, in much the same way
as the M25 is in the UK. We have had very quick and tediously slow
experiences; however, on balance it has been pretty good and become our preferred route.
If you wish to avoid Paris, we suggest the following route >>>>

Suggested route avoiding Paris
On arrival from Dover or Boulogne sur Mer, go via the A16 and A28 down
to Rouen. Cut through Rouen on the N138, picking up a small section of the
A13 before leaving this to go south on the A28 towards Tours. Just north of Tours, join the A10 to go through the city until junction 24, joining the N143 to head down to Châteauroux. Here you pick up the A20 which will take you all
the way down to Toulouse. Once entering the Toulouse area, pick up the
signs for the A620 ‘Peripherique Exterieur’, displaying markers for Tarbes Lourdes. This road will lead you to the A64.
Once on the A64, continue down until junction 23, turning off right onto the D6 signed up for Le Fousseret. Just into this town, turn left onto the D48 going through Fustignac and Lussan-Adeilhac towards Lilhac. Turn right onto the
D23 towards Fabas once the other side of Lussan-Adeilhac (it’s at a
crossroads with a large pink house on your left). After about 4 kilometres, turn
left onto the D23B up into Fabas. Coming into the village, turn left at the
‘T’ junction signed up for St Frajou.
After about a mile you’ll see a driveway on the right signed ‘St Jean’ near a green wheelie bin. Our house is the very next drive on the right, set back with
oak gateposts.
For your Sat.Nav: Latitiude: 43°18'25.67" N - Longitude: 0°52'45.26" E.
